Professor Emerita Catches Media’s Fancy
Dr. Gertrude Neumark, Howe Professor Emerita of Materials Science, has been in the media spotlight recently for petitioning the United States International Trade Commission for a hearing to prohibit imports of products that she is claiming are violating her patents. Professor Neumark is one of the world’s foremost experts on doping wide band-gap semiconductors, a process that has resulted in the creation of short wave-length (blue and ultraviolet) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and lasers.
