Deans' Student Assistance Fund Provides Support to Students in Need

Sep 09 2015

Beginning in Fall 2015, undergraduate financial aid recipients from Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science are able to apply for funds through the Deans’ Student Assistance Fund. This resource is designed to assist students with the greatest financial need who face unanticipated personal expenses beyond those included in the Cost of Attendance.

Examples for which the Deans’ Student Assistance Fund could be used include, but are not limited to, travel home for a family emergency; unexpected health care costs; cold weather clothing needs; or FLEX meal funding during term time breaks when the dining halls are closed. To apply for grants awarded through this fund, students will meet with a financial aid officer to discuss their particular need and how best to meet it. Financial aid officers are also available to work with students on future financial planning. Financial support accessed through this fund does not need to be repaid.

Students who are interested in learning more about this fund are encouraged to meet with a financial aid officer. For more information, please contact the Office of Financial Aid and Educational Financing.
