SEAS Parents Program Formed
This spring, SEAS launches its first comprehensive Parents Program with the addition of new Parents Program Officer Ryan Car-michael. This new initiative will strive to engage parents of SEAS students to keep them better informed and more connected to the School.
To promote this connection, the Parents Council will be formed. “Establishing a volunteer body for parents is one of the most important steps for the Parents Program,” says Carmichael. “The new Parents Council will be composed of parents who agree to serve as ambassadors for the School, to act as liaisons between the administration and the Engineering Parents Association, and to advance the goals and vision of the School through supporting the Parents Fund. We recognized that parents are an important part of the Columbia Engineering community.”
Carmichael is also planning regional, parent-specific events that will begin next year in major cities around the country. These gatherings will feature the Dean and prominent faculty members.
To subscribe to the SEAS monthly e-newsletter or to learn more about the Parents Program, please contact Ryan Carmichael at 212-870-2404 or rc2533@columbia.edu.
