GK12 Community Fellowship Program

This National Science Foundation–supported program engages graduate and undergraduate students to conduct research and apply new educational technologies to support standards-based learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through internships at the Center for Technology, Innovation and Community Engagement (CTICE), Columbia undergraduates can participate in this program, developing new educational technology resources for the K–12 classroom as well as mentoring and tutoring K–12 students. Funds are available for students able to work 10 hours or more a week during the semester. In addition, summer positions are available in the Summer Program for High School Students, the Hayden Engineering and Applied Science Program, and the Columbia Kids Care camp for middle-school students.

Community Engagement Internships

Community Engagement Internships support undergraduate students who undertake local community-based learning projects. On an as-needed basis, teams of student interns work with faculty advisers on projects ranging from technical assistance to social research. The Center for Technology, Innovation and Community Engagement (CTICE) coordinates all projects, with community partners, including local not-for-profit organizations, public schools, local businesses, and government agencies. Funds are available to students who are able to work approximately 10 hours a week during the semester. Summer positions may be available, contingent upon funding.
