Title: "Developing a World-Wide Data Science Ecosystem for Accelerating Fusion Research”
Abstract: The talk will cover recent developments in applying the national Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) to fusion experiments, the prospects for extending the infrastructure internationally, and the opportunity for US leadership in preparing for ITER operation.
Bio: Raffi Nazikian earned his Ph.D. at the Australian National University before moving to the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) where he participated in the world’s first fusion power experiment on the TFTR tokamak. His scientific contributions address a wide range of fusion challenges involving Alfvenic instabilities, turbulent transport, and magnetic reconnection. He is currently senior director at General Atomics.
