Columbia Engineering Partners with the School of Professional Studies on New Construction Concentration

New MS in project management to feature concentration in construction led by Engineering faculty

June 12, 2025

Columbia Engineering and Columbia School of Professional Studies (SPS) announce a new construction concentration within the SPS’s MS in Project Management.

The MS in Project Management is offered by SPS for students interested in a variety of careers in project leadership. The degree represents an expansion from the previous construction administration program to encompass a wider project management scope with four new concentrations: construction, sports management, technology management, and sustainability management.

The construction track will equip future leaders in the industry to deliver complex builds, taking into account the myriad constraints and objectives of modern construction, from timelines to budgets to navigating the local and national regulatory landscape, while preparing students for technology-enhanced project environments making use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

With its history of expertise in civil engineering and engineering management, Columbia faculty bring extensive research and real-world experience to educating the next generation of innovators in advanced commercial, housing, and infrastructure projects. The track meets the growing demand for education in construction management to accommodate infrastructure development and rapidly growing urban populations.

The new MS program is slated to begin in Fall 2026 with both full-time and part-time formats.
