Charlene Bernasko-Acquaye
Assistant Dean of Engineering Student Wellness and Success
Charlene Bernasko-Acquaye (she/her) is the Assistant Dean of Engineering Student Wellness and Success, leading the efforts to promote and foster a Columbia Engineering culture that prioritizes the health and well-being of its students and community members.
She is responsible for enhancing the health, wellness, and well-being of the Graduate Engineering Community by developing wellness initiatives and programming and maintaining proactive communication with internal and external staff related to support services, resources, and Campus-wide programs to alleviate possible barriers to a student’s academic success.
Charlene joined Columbia Engineering in 2021. Prior to joining the Office of Engineering Student Affairs, she held various positions within Columbia Health Sexual Violence Response, and Teachers College, Columbia University. Previously she was a Licensed Social Service Worker in Ontario, Canada working in residential, clinical, and community settings with a specialization in the areas of trauma, gender-based violence, human trafficking, and anti-violence prevention and advocacy.
Charlene earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University.
