
Daniel Bauer
Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Natural Language Processing
As a member of the teaching faculty, Daniel Bauer focuses on designing and delivering a wide range of courses in Computer Science, spanning from introductory computing to graduate-level courses and seminars in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing.
Bauer's research background is in Natural Language Processing. His interests within NLP lie in the area of computational semantics, language understanding in a multimodal context, and applications of NLP, particularly addressing social problems. Additionally, he is interested in research in Computer Science education.
Bauer received a BSc in Cognitive Science from the University of Osnabrück in 2007, and an MSc in Language Science and Technology from Saarland University in 2007. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at Columbia University in 2017. He then joined the Columbia Engineering School as a Lecturer in 2017.
