Elizabeth Olson
Co-Director of the Masters Program in Biomedical Engineering
Professor Olson received her BA in Physics from Barnard College in 1981.
In 1988 she earned a PhD in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), studying electroreception in electric fish. She currently studies the mechanics of hearing, and also works on cochlear implants. She has had continuous NIH funding since 1995. Professor Olson has served as Treasurer and later President of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, the world's largest organization for hearing research. She is currently co-director of the Masters Program in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia.
