Eric Vieira

Director of Strategic Collaborations

Dr. Eric Vieira is a seasoned research administrator and strategic leader with over 20 years of experience in fostering academic-industry partnerships, developing research initiatives, and managing large-scale, interdisciplinary programs.

As the Director of Strategic Collaborations at Columbia Engineering, he plays a critical role in expanding research opportunities through internal and external partnerships with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. He has been instrumental in launching over a dozen research centers, managing multi-million-dollar seed funding programs, and serving in interim leadership roles for major NSF-funded centers and AI initiatives.

Prior to Columbia, Dr. Vieira held leadership roles at the City University of New York (CUNY), where he spearheaded initiatives in life sciences, data science, and cybersecurity, working closely with NYC and NY State economic development agencies. His career spans roles in technology commercialization, industry engagement, and financial analysis, including co-founding the Bio & Health Tech Entrepreneurship Lab NYC and leading healthcare research teams in the finance sector.

Dr. Vieira earned his Ph.D. in Developmental Genetics from the NYU School of Medicine and a B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Rutgers University. He is a recognized leader in research administration, innovation strategy, and academic-industry engagement.
