Fernanda Martinez
Associate Director of Education and Community Programs
Fernanda Martinez is the Engineering Workforce Development Manager for the Center for Smart Streetscapes (CS3), a National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center (ERC) housed at Columbia Engineering.
She focuses on developing and implementing CS3's educational activities, including programs for high school students, STEM teachers, and undergraduate students. She also supports CS3's undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
Fernanda joined Columbia University in 2021. Prior to joining Columbia Engineering, she was the Alumni Relations Coordinator at the School of General Studies. Previously, she held roles at Emory University and the 92nd Street Y, focused on program management and student engagement. Her career in education began with teaching English in South Korea.
Fernanda earned her Bachelor's degree in Asian Studies and Japanese from Vassar College. In her free time, she is a College Mentor for the East Harlem Tutorial Program. She is passionate about fostering academic and personal excellence through innovative programming, inclusive educational initiatives, and professional development opportunities.
