Gregory Chingas
Student & Academic Affairs Specialist
Gregory has a BS in biology and a minor in mathematics from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and an MS in biomedical engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.
Gregory began his professional career in academic research as a research assistant at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA, and later became a research project manager at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY. Despite this, and given his experience mentoring college-age students, Gregory abandoned academic research altogether to work in higher education.
In his current role of “Student & Academic Affairs Specialist” in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University, Gregory aids faculty and students with all academic administrative matters, such as advising, enrollment and registration. In addition, and in partnership with department faculty and staff, as well as colleagues in the Office of Engineering Student Affairs, Gregory facilitates the promotion of overall wellbeing for all students in the department.
