Joseph Viola
Laboratory and Technology Manager in the Department of Biomedical Engineering
Joe Viola is the manager of the Biomedical Engineering Teaching Lab.
Joe is a proud graduate of The Cooper Union where he received a bachelors and masters of mechanical engineering. Over his engineering journey, Joe has designed and built systems big and small. From the microscale at a tissue engineering lab, EpiBone, producing custom equipment and bioreactors for the purposes of growing human bones. To the industrial scale of a 12 MW power plant and 50 tower apartment complex, Starrett City. Now he resides in the BME Teaching Lab happily tinkering with the students in the everchanging landscape of their course related and research projects.
The Teaching Lab is dedicated to the mission of hands-on project based education. Whether it be students making gifts for friends, fake vasculature, or fusion reactors, come down and make cool stuff!
