Michele Hoos
Executive Director of Communications
As the Executive Director of Communications at Columbia Engineering, Michele leads a dynamic cross-functional team responsible for managing all external and internal communication efforts.
Her role encompasses media relations, marketing, public relations, crisis communications, and strategic initiatives that highlight the School’s research and educational mission as well as its vision: Engineering for Humanity.
With over 15 years of communications and marketing experience across prominent higher education institutions, Michele joined Columbia Engineering in 2020. Prior to this, she was Director of Communications at Cornell Tech, where she supported the launch of the billion-dollar campus through an integrated, multi-platform communications strategy.
Michele holds a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cornell University. She started her career as a high school English teacher.
