George Ellis

‘79; Global Director, Procurement Operational Excellence at Corteva, Inc.

George Ellis is the Global Director, Procurement Operational Excellence at Corteva, Inc. (also known as Corteva AgriscienceTM), an American agricultural chemical and seed company with $18 billion in 2022 sales. As a member of Corteva’s Global Procurement leadership team, George is responsible for implementing world-class business processes that drive efficiency and effectiveness across the global team and in support of company stakeholders. George joined Corteva in 2018 as the Global Director, Logistics Procurement and International Trade Governance. 

Prior to joining Corteva, George was the Vice President of Global Supply Chain at Chemonics International, the largest implementer of US Agency for International Development (USAID) programs. He directed the global sourcing and distribution of HIV/AIDS pharmaceuticals, malaria treatments, and reproductive health products destined for 72 developing countries. Over the past 30 years, George has worked in supply chain leadership positions at several companies, including: Merck, Tyco International, Raytheon Company and Penske Logistics.

George holds a master of business administration degree from Harvard Business School (HBS) and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science (CUSEAS). Outside of work, George enjoys spending time with his wife, three adult children and five grandsons. 

George is passionate about supporting community programs related to STEM, education, youth development and food security. His Board of Director and Committee experience includes:

  • Board Chair, Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest, Inc., with clubs in Framingham, Hudson and Natick, Massachusetts (2008-2011), Director (2006-2008), Board of Advisors (2011 – present)
  • Board Director, Second Helpings, Inc., one of Indiana’s largest food security service providers (2019 – present)
  • Board Chair, HBS African-American Alumni Association, Inc. (2020 – present)
  • Board Director, Harvard Club of Indiana (2021 – present)
  • Member, Board of Visitors, Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science (2021 – present)
  • Co-Vice Chair, Conexus Indiana Advanced Industries Council, a division of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership
