Columbia University and École Polytechnique are proud to announce the creation of Global Dual Degree in Engineering
New program will allow students to obtain a BS from Ecole Polytechnique and a MS from Columbia Engineering in less than five years.

New York, October 10, 2022 – The Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science and École Polytechnique are joining forces to create a joint Bachelor/Master degree in Engineering. This dual degree program, to be launched next year, will accept its first cohort of students in the Fall of 2024.
Students graduating from the Global Dual Degree in Engineering will obtain two degrees: a Bachelor’s degree from École Polytechnique and a Master’s degree from Columbia University. The four-and-a-half-year program will include jointly taught courses, research opportunities, and a PhD track.
“This dual degree will allow Columbia and École Polytechnique to strengthen the deep partnership they have forged over the last 20 years,” said Mary C. Boyce, Provost and Professor of Mechanical Engineering. “By training a new generation of global leaders in engineering, we will help enhance their impact on human progress and on the many challenges facing our world.”
Eric Labaye, President of École Polytechnique, said: “This new degree, delivered by two world-class institutions, will provide unique opportunities to global students seeking to combine the best traditions of engineering education on both sides of the Atlantic. It opens a new chapter in our reinforced collaboration with Columbia, as part of the Alliance Program.”
Shih-Fu Chang, Dean of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, said: “Engineering is an increasingly global discipline and the Global Dual Degree program will give students an unprecedented opportunity to learn the range of skills needed to be a 21st century engineer.
