Prem is Executive Vice President, Chief Scientist and Head of Enterprise AI at Capital One. He leads the technology strategy, architecture, research, and development for all AI initiatives as well as all data technologies at Capital One.

Prem has more than two decades of experience leading science, technology, and commercialization efforts in natural language processing, speech recognition, computer vision, forecasting, and other applications of machine learning. Prior to joining Capital One, Prem served as VP of Amazon’s Alexa AI organization and as EVP of Speech, Language, and Multimedia at Raytheon BBN Technologies. 

Prem has also served as the Senior Vice Dean of Engineering in the USC Viterbi School and Executive Director of the Information Science Institute. He remains a member of the faculty in the department of computer science. Additionally, he serves on the Boards of the University of Virginia School of Data Science and the Partnership on AI. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the author and co-author of more than 200 published papers in research areas such as conversational AI, machine translation, and computer vision. He holds several patents in the field of AI and machine learning. 

Prem received his master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Tufts University and a bachelor's degree in engineering from COEP Technological University.
