Eleni Drinea

Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Computer Science; Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research

Eleni Drinea is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Computer Science and in the Discipline of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research.

She is an affiliated member of the Foundations of Data Science Center of the Data Science Institute. She serves as the Director of the Master program in Data Science at Columbia University. Her research interests lie in theoretical computer science, and include randomized and graph algorithms, information theory, algorithms for big data, and dimensionality reduction techniques.

Eleni Drinea received her MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from Harvard University. She then joined the School of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL, Switzerland, as a research associate. Her research at EPFL focused on reliable communication over wireless networks, using randomized online algorithms, approximation techniques and the network coding paradigm for network optimization.
