Professor Ah-Hyung (Alissa) Park Named AIChE Fellow

Jun 25 2021 | By Jesse Adams

In recognition of her groundbreaking research into sustainable energy and materials conversion, with a special focus on capturing, converting and storing CO2 to mitigate climate change, Professor Ah-Hyung (Alissa) Park has been named among this year’s latest fellows of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

The Lenfest Earth Institute Professor of Climate Change, and Chair of Earth and Environmental Engineering, Park is also director of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy and a member of Chemical Engineering. She develops novel nanoscale hybrid materials and creates innovative reaction pathways involving CO2, including Direct Air Capture carbon mineralization. Her efforts have resulted in translational applications to the field of carbon capture, utilization, and storage addressing climate change.

The honor is Park’s latest of many. Just last year she was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Chemical Society (ACS), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
